In early 2000, Mrs. Smith moved to and fell in love with the town of Calera, Alabama. She soon realized Calera was a place in need of a convenient dance program since the town was growing so rapidly. With years of dance experience, little interest in climbing the corporate ladder, and timing on her side, she was able to open Calera Dance Academy at its first location in downtown Calera in Summer 2003.

The first year was a success, but the location soon proved to be less than adequate. Growing steadily, she decided to move the studio to a larger location north of the new Walmart. With several well-educated and energetic dance instructors, the rosters continued to grow. After 4 years in that location the opportunity to move back downtown into a larger facility arose. In the summer of 2008, she relocated to her current facility. The building had the charm of a traditional “New York” style dance studio.

She continues to be blessed with a professional staff who strive to offer the best quality dance instruction. Thanks to everyone who’s contributed to making Calera Dance Academy a success!
